Plume Home: Learn More About Your Router Management App

Plume Home: Learn More About Your Router Management App

Welcome to our breakdown of Plume Home, the management app for your router. Previously known as HomePass by Plume app, Plume Home builds upon the previous experience with a new modern design, and even more powerful capabilities to enable you to be more in command of your WiFi. The Plume Home app helps you manage your network, monitor what's going on with your devices, protect your family on the internet, and more.

If you do not have the Plume Home app, you may download it here: Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Getting Logged In to Plume Home

Once you have the app downloaded, to get started you will select Sign In, rather than Create Account, as we created the account for you during your installation. Once you select Sign In, it will prompt you for your email. Once you enter your email, it will send you an email to log in with, rather than requiring you to use a password. Go to your email app and confirm your login, then go back to the app by following the prompt.

Home

On the home page you can find your general, every day things you may want to check. Such as your current broadband speed , a space to quickly edit or share your WiFi password , manage your People  (we will show you how to create People soon) such as setting them to Time Out  (freeze), or setting up a Focus schedule  (freeze schedule). You can also view your Network speed history and Security events, if you have them enabled .

Profiles

In the profiles page, you can create and manage people on your network . You can create a profile for each Person in the home and set specific parental controls , and better track usage per person within the home. When creating a Person, you can also create an invite to add another user to the Plume Home app . You can also create Groups to organize your devices for easier management and control, which has similar functionality as People. With at least one person created, you can also time out the person , create a Focus (freeze schedule, and assign devices from the main screen .

Notes
If you would like to freeze devices, you must add them to a profile or group. To set a freeze schedule, Create a person then, add a focus . Here you can add a Name , set the focus as a one-time freeze with a duration, set it as a recurring freeze with times and days of the week, or indefinitely .

Network

In the network page, under Connectivity, you can manage/change your SSID (Network Name) and Passwords , check your Topology  (All connected routers and extenders), view your Security events , and add extenders ④ (You will not use the Add extenders option. We will always add them for you). Under Devices  you can view all of your online and offline connected devices. Tapping a device in the devices screen will allow you to view additional information about the device, like the MAC and IP addresses. You can also assign a device to a person, edit the device name, or remove an offline device from the list of devices. You can also run a router speed test from the Devices screen (top right).

Notes
Tapping the device with Plume Home on it (noted by a purple asterisk) in that list will give you the IoT onboarding mode option to add 2.4GHz devices to your network (to view our article on connecting 2.4GHz devices / IoT onboarding mode, click here).

Settings

In the settings menu, you can find more in-depth settings for your Network, Security, Privacy, and Notifications, as well as change the app theme.

Network

In the network settings menu, you can find advanced settings. There is another area to check your WiFi name & password , and enable or disable auto speed tests  (not recommended). You can also change your LAN IP Subnet  (192.168.40.x, 172.16.0.x, 10.0.0.x), set up DHCP / IP Reservations  (Port Forwarding), change your DNS settings , and enable or disable UPnP  (not recommended).

Security

In the security settings menu, you can enable or disable Ad blocking  (use at your own risk. This can break Google ad services which affects some internet browsing), Online defense , Advanced IoT protection , and Remote access protection . There is another place to assign devices to People here , and you can also enable or disable Home Security Boost , which will automatically prioritize home security apps and devices when all primary devices leave the network (such as phones). You can also clear the security history in this menu .

Privacy

In the privacy settings menu, you can find some advanced settings, that we do not recommend changing. You can enable or disable Data access, which helps your network track usage statistics to enhance your WiFi experience by automatically monitoring your network for anomalies. If you disable data access, Plume Home will not be able to detect or help protect you from potential cyber threats, or allow you to restrict or pause connectivity with Focuses or Time Outs based on preset or custom schedules. You can also enable and disable App analytics, App usage tracking, and Crash reporting.
WarningWe do not recommend disabling or changing any settings under this menu, as it will hinder our ability to support any issues that may occur on your router

Notifications

In the notifications menu you can enable or disable notifications for devices with Private WiFi addresses connecting to your network  (Such as Apple iPhones). You can also set up notifications to alert you when a person leaves or arrives home by setting up a primary device in a People profile  (see Profiles section).
