Connecting Chamberlain (MyQ) Garage Door Opener

Connecting Chamberlain (MyQ) Garage Door Opener

Having issues getting your Chamberlain / MyQ garage door opener connected to your WiFi? This guide should help!

First, we need to enable IoT Onboarding Mode in the HomePass app.
If you need assistance with HomePass, please review this article as it will show you how to enable this mode! CLICK HERE: Homepass App: How to Connect 2.4GHz Devices (Blink Cameras, Amazon Echo, etc.)

Now that we have IoT Onboarding Mode enabled, let's get started on getting the MyQ connected!

This clears all of the previous WiFi information out of the MyQ's memory and allows a smoother connection to a new network.

2. On your phone, tablet, or computer, join the temporary WiFi network that it creates (MyQ-XXX).

3. Find the default gateway IP address that it gives you. The default is likely 192.168.10.1.
If that IP does not work, here is how to find the IP. On an iPhone/iPad, go into Settings > Wi-Fi, and tap the (i) information symbol next to the MyQ-XXX network, and look for the "Router" IP address.  On Samsung Android devices, you can find this information by going to: Settings > Connection > WiFi, then tap the Gear ⚙️ next to the connected network > tap the "View More" button under "Auto Reconnect" >  Tap "IP Settings" and select "Static",  then look for "Gateway". This is the IP address you can use to reach the MyQ hub on the temporary network.

4. In a web browser on that same device, go to that IP address, e.g. http://192.168.10.1/ This will get you an interface where you can pick a WiFi network and enter the password.

5. Once you enter the password, the MyQ will join your real WiFi network and be in a solid-green state. You can switch your phone/tablet/computer back to your usual network.

6. At this point, you can now go back into the MyQ app and continue setting up your device as usual. During setup, when it asks if the hub is blinking blue, there's an option to say it's not and pick solid green.

If these steps did not work, within the Garage Door GUI, some users have had to go to the IP address, put it in 2.4, turn off WiFi assist, turn off WiFi private relay, and then set it up as a brand new device. If none of these steps work, you may need to reach out to Chamberlain / MyQ for support.

You should now be connected and ready to use your MyQ Garage Opener! If you are still encountering challenges, don't hesitate to reach out to our IdeaTek support team at 620-543-5555 or direct support from Chamberlain/MyQ.
